  1. BASIC INSTRUCTIONS FOR
  2. FWZIP Manager
  3. (version 1.00)
  4. NOTE: YOU MUST HAVE A COMPATIBLE VERSION OF PKZIP, WHICH IS NOT
  5. INCLUDED IN THIS FRED PROGRAM !!!
  6. PRINT THIS FRAME
  7. ALERT !!
  8. : FWZIP Manager will not work unless the DOS paths are
  9. properly set. Before running FWZIP Manager and trying these
  10. instructions, see the separate message left on your desktop by the
  11. auto-install program concerning the initial settings and how to change
  12. them if they are incorrect !!!!
  13. ASSUMING your DOS path has been properly set, here are basic
  14. instructions for using FWZIP Manager:
  15. .............
  16.         1.  You have installed FWZmac.fw3 as {ALT-Z} in your Library.
  17. Now you want to try it out. (note: Just for future reference, FWZIP
  18. Manager is designed to be used either as a macro, a stand-alone FRED
  19. program, or as a program choice from an "Apps" menu -- see
  20. fwzdoc.fw3);
  21.         2.  Press {Alt-Z} (or whatever macro name you have chosen);
  22.         3.  You will be presented with a prompt-line menu;
  23.         4.  There are several levels of FWZIP Manager, prompt line
  24. menus.
  25. On the FIRST level are
  26.                 
  27. elp   
  28. ip Functions
  29. tilities   
  30.     Each of these first level menu choices (other than 
  31. leads to its own respective sub-menu (also on prompt line);
  32.         5.  Navigate all menus like any other FWIII prompt line
  33. menu. That is, choose with cursor 
  34.  by pressing first character
  35. of desired choice (as shown by bold-underline in this
  36. documentation, see above and below);
  37.         6.  
  38. elp leads to on-line help for PKZIP and FWZIP
  39. Manager. Try 
  40. WZIP Manager Help. Do so and you will be prompted
  41. for a word or term to search for help on; for help on help, enter
  42. "Help Help". When you choose 
  43. WZIP Manager Help, the prompt line
  44. will contain a context sensitive suggested search term that you
  45. can use or delete. Note: Each sub-menu also has a 
  46. elp option;
  47.         7.  A] 
  48. ip Functions leads to a sub-menu that
  49. corresponds to the PKZIP commands. Choose a FWZip Manager
  50. sub-menu choice and, after answering prompts for file names, the
  51. menu choice will execute the corresponding PKZIP function;
  52.             B] Note: FWZIP Manager shows you the choice of
  53. available *.zip files on your set path and you may enter the file
  54. name you want to act on by cursor pointing. This feature is one
  55. of FWZIP Manager's "nice touches";
  56.           ****  C] For a trial run, try 
  57. ist to produce a PKZIP
  58. list of files contained in FWZM.zip;
  59.             D] Alert ! FWZIP Manager tries to run a PKZIP
  60. session inside a FW3 frame/window. If you lack memory below 640K
  61. for this, the program will abort. If this happens, set FWZIP
  62. Manager's
  63. oll-out? option to "On" via the 
  64. tilities menu;
  65.         8.  
  66. tilities leads to a sub-menu for setting the DOS
  67. paths, setting DOS roll-out option "on" or "off", and performing
  68. disk maintenance on *.zip files (copy, move, delete, rename);
